2008 Spring Fling Tournament

To help fund our organization, SISA annually hosts a mid - May 'Spring Fling' offshore fishing tournament. This fun filled event has occurred since 1973 making it one of the oldest fishing tournaments in Florida. Each year over 100 boats from 19 foot and up participate for cash prizes and awards. Plan to attend the tournament or just come by Captain Hiram's, have a cold beverage of your choice, kick-back and watch the weigh-in.

Single Heaviest Fish Awards

Eligible Species: Dolphin .. King Mackerel .. Wahoo

1st .. $1500

2nd .. $700

3rd .. $400

4th, 5th, 6th .. $200

Junior Angler Awards

Boys and girls "Junior Anglers" each receive a Rod and Reel Combo for heaviest eligible fish. Junior anglers are less than 16 years old on the date of the tournament.

Top Boat Award

$1000 cash and a $100 mount certificate for the Top Boat with largest aggregate fish weight, one point per pound of 3 eligible species listed above, no more than 2 of the same species count in total.

There was a field of 104 boats with 51 boats weighing fish.

Dolphin results:

1st place Matt Fahmie on the Screaming Seaman with a 42.9lb
winning $1,500.00 cash and $100.00 fish mount certificate

2nd place Fred Brain on the Reel Hard with a 35.6lb winning $700.00 cash

3rd place was Brad Spalding on the Brassy Hooker with a 35lb winning $400.00 cash

4th place was Greg Gammague on the Team Black Haw with a 33.1lb winning $200.00 cash

5th place was George Kessel on the Shakedown with a 33lb winning $200.00 cash

6th place was Randy Barrow on the Empty Pockets with a 33lb winning $200.00 cash

Kingfish Results:

1st place Randal Richmond on the Pretender with a 38.8lb
winning $1,500 cash and $100.00 fish mount certificate

2nd place was Ken Degrazia on the Hotwire with a 38.3lb winning $700.00 cash

3rd place was Jorge Domenech on the Billme with a 33.6lb winning $400.00 cash

4th place was Grant Cloughlay on the No Limits with a 33.4lb winning $200.00 cash

5th place was Chris Delaney on the Headhunter with a 32.2lb winning $200.00 cash

Only one fish was weighted

1st place was Ray Willis on the Reel Thing with a 30.2lb

Top Boat Results:

Brought in four fish for a total weight of 70.7lb was Brett Taylor on the
Double Down winning $1,000.00 cash and $100.00 fish mount certificate.

None of Brett’s fish made the leader board but he caught two King
weighing 26.6 and 24.0 and two Dolphin weighing 11.8 and 8.3lb

Junior Anglers:

Ashley Spalding with a 35.0 Dolphin won a Rod & Reel combo

Austin Barrow with a 33.0 Dolphin won a Rod & Reel combo
